Stephen J. Czech named to the NYU Cancer Institute Board of Directors

New York, NY, July 21, 2008 – William L. Carroll, M.D., director of the NYU Cancer Institute and the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, is pleased to announce that Stephen j. Czech has been named to the NYU Cancer Institute Board of Directors. Mr. Czech and his wife Jennifer have worked to raise awareness and increase funding to eradicate children’s cancers, specifically in the area of neuro-oncology. “Steve and Jennifer have become partners in our
quest to develop bold, new approaches to cure childhood brain tumor and their commitment is inspiring to all members of our community”.

Dr. Carroll is also pleased to announce that Steve and Jennifer Czech have agreed to be co-honorees at the 2008 NYU Cancer Institute Gala to be held Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 at Cipriani’s 42nd Street. The NYU Cancer Institute Brain Tumor Program, under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey C. Allen, uses the tools of modern biology to understand brain tumors and to harness that knowledge to advance therapy. Funds from the campaign headed by the Czechs will be applied toward establishing a new world-leading pediatric neuro-oncology research laboratory at NYU to assist Dr. Jeffrey C. Allen in his efforts.

Mr. Czech is the Managing Member, Chief Investment Officer nd founder of SJC Capital Partners, L.L.C. (“SJC”), a Stamford, CT-based hedge fund. A native of Lake Forest, IL, Mr. Czech earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University and an MBA from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Mr. Czech resides with his wife Jennifer and two children in New Canaan, CT.
