NYU Cancer Institute 6th Annual Retreat

New York City, NY - September 26, 2009 - The Cancer Institute at NYU Langone Medical Center held its 6th annual retreat at the New York Academy of Medicine on September 25. Each year the retreat provides an opportunity for Cancer Institute investigators to highlight their accomplishments, to network and explore potential synergies, and to cultivate new collaborations between basic and clinical investigators and clinicians. Over 300 attendees participated in this year's program, which included sessions on cancer immunity, cancer therapeutics, cancer genetics and epigenetics, cancer biomarkers and targets, gene regulation and signaling, population sciences, prevention and detection. This year's keynote speaker, Nicholas Restifo, MD, from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) discussed the development of novel immunotherapies for patients with cancer.
