Types of Membership

Membership in the NYUCI is open to all members of the New York University full-time faculty. All schools, institutes, and centers of New York University are eligible to participate, as are the clinical affiliates of the NYU School of Medicine. These include the facilities of the NYU Hospitals Center, Bellevue Hospital Center, and the Veterans Administration NY Harbor Healthcare System.

Membership Categories

Full Members will meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Serve as a Principal Investigator on peer-reviewed, cancer-related research grants;
  • Newly recruited laboratory investigators who are expected to receive extramural funding in the near future;
  • Clinical investigators who may not have an extramurally funded program but who play leadership roles in extramural programs (e.g., ECOG or RTOG) or in intramural programs (e.g., Head of Disease or Discipline Group);
  • The Director, Associate Director, and collaborating investigators who are members of the Biostatistics Shared Resource. These investigators may be either programmatically aligned or unaligned.

Associate Members are expected to participate actively in cancer center activities. Associate Members may be linked to a basic science program and/or Disease Groups and will fulfill the following criteria:

  • Serve as an investigator who participates in clinical cancer research through protocol development and/or execution;
  • Managers of Shared Resources;
  • Key ancillary personnel who foster effective clinical and translational research efforts. Such members would include lead research pharmacists, research nurses, and clinical research associates and research scientists in Biostatistics;
  • Serve as an administrator in NYUCI Programs or Shared Resources.

Individuals accepted for membership who do not fit within a Program, and thus become unaligned members, will be required to submit an annual report to the NYUCI Director to increase their likelihood of becoming aligned with a Program.
